DIALOG PREVIEWS THE RANK COMMAND

PALO ALTO, CA, 7 December 1992 - Dialog Information Services, Inc.

will preview an upcoming system feature, the RANK command, at the

International Online Meeting in London. The RANK command is an

analysis tool that reveals statistical trends in search results. It

counts the occurrences of unique terms within a specific field or

fields from an established search set, thus allowing searchers to

irnmediately pinpoint the essential information contained within

DIALOG records.

The RANK command is available in most DIALOG files, as well as

OneSearch (R), and has been designed to work in most phrase-indexed

Additional Index fields, most numeric Additional Index fields, and

with phrase-indexed Descriptor (DE) and Identifier (ID) Basic Index

fields. RANK easily answers search questions such as:

- What cities in France have the highest concentration of typesetting

shops?

- What companies hold the most patents for hair-coloring products?

- What are the largest industries in Canada? In which cities are

these industries concentrated?

- Who has authored the most articles on computer voice recognition?

Analyzing search results will be easy and quick with this new

command. Up to 50,000 records can be RANKed at one time. As an

introduction to this new search analysis tool, the RANK command will

be offered free for the first three months it is available; after

this free offer the cost in most databases will be just $0.02 per

ranked record.
